There are reviews, and then there are reviews. Yesterday, I received one of the latter when legendary author B. J. Mears posted a review of The Vanishing Room on Goodreads. As you already know, B. J. Mears is the author of the Banyard and Mingle series of detective books, set in a post-cataclysmic Earthoria, and of the Tyler May fantasy series.
With as much humility as I can muster, which is very little, and filled with appreciation, I present the review below:
A thoroughly enjoyable romp.
I loved the characters in this book, each of them believable and well-formed. The plot slipped unassumingly into play, with no explosive beginning, but one that eased me into an intriguing and compelling story that held me captivated. Fenton’s expansive vocabulary is refreshing, as too is his command of twists and turns.
I was reminded in some aspects of John Buchan’s Richard Hannay stories, which I’ve also very much enjoyed. If you like mystery, intrigue and adventure (and a well-written novel), you will most probably love this book. More please!
